Holiday Greetings,

This is a very magical time of the year for many, but for the children and families we serve, the holiday season can be a reminder of what they don’t have… forever families, stable homes, and basic necessities. Children’s Home of York is in need of support from community members like you to help us place children in their forever homes, assist families who are desperately trying to stay intact, and provide children with the stability they need to achieve their dreams.

Imagine yourself as a 6-year-old child who has inherited the enormous responsibility of being a caretaker for a younger sibling because your mom is a single-parent working two jobs to pay the rent. This was the reality for one of our young clients last year. The York City Police found 6-year-old Camille and her younger sister outside in the middle of the night. They were in their pajamas, without coats, wrapped in blankets and trying to find a corner store to get something to eat. The children were placed in emergency foster care and our Integrated Practice Team was able to assist their mother with securing cheaper housing, a better paying job, and affordable child care. With help from the wonderful programs of Children’s Home of York, Camille and her sister were reunited with their mom and are currently thriving!
