Make holiday wishes come true!

Imagine yourself as a 6-year-old child who has inherited the enormous responsibility of being a caretaker for a younger sibling while your mom works two jobs to pay the rent. This was the reality for one of our young clients. The York City Police found 6-year-old Camille and her younger sister outside in the middle of the night. They were in their pajamas, without coats, wrapped in blankets to keep warm. Camille had made the choice to leave home and brave the cold weather in order to find something to eat for herself and her sister. The children were placed in emergency foster care while our Integrated Practice Team worked with their mother to secure affordable housing, a better paying job, and inexpensive child care. With help from the programs of Children’s Home of York, Camille and her sister were reunited with their mom and are currently thriving in a loving home!
